WILDCATS YOUTH SPORTS

FAQ's

Where will the games be played?

Game locations will vary depending on who is fielding teams in each respective grade.  Either way we will have approximately 4 home games (Guyer High School) and 4 away games.  Wildcats Youth Sports is part of the North Texas Football League (NTFL).  This organization is composed of leagues from Southlake, Coppell, Grapevine Colleyville, Trophy Club, Roanoke, and Argyle.  All of these leagues play their games predominantly at their respective high school or middle school fields.

Is this a "Select" Program?

No, however, it is competitive.  All kids will play and there will only be tryouts (combines)  when we are required to have two teams at the same grade level. The tryouts would then be used to ensure an equal and fair team building (draft) process.

What are the player eligibility requirements?

All eligibility requirements are subject to the rules, restrictions, and guidelines of the league that the Wildcats partner with.

All children that live within the Guyer High School zone that meet all other requirements are eligible. Therefore, players must attend one of these schools:

Adkins, E.P. Rayzor, Blanton, L.A. Nelson, Hawk, McNair, Harpool or Crownover. Special circumstances apply to homeschool or private/charter students that live within the correct boundaries.

Wildcats Youth Sports is a "grade pure" association having a team for each tackle age group.  Grades 2-6.  For flag football, we will have mixed teams of 1st graders and below.

There is additionally an age restriction for each grade.  Eligibility is determined based upon the players age as of September 1 of the playing year.

The association will provide a cheerleading uniform, pom poms, and pink-out package for all cheerleaders (optional items also available).

All football players will be required to purchase their own game pants (black), game socks (black), mouth guard, practice apparel, cleats, gloves, etc. A complete list of recommended equipment will be provided to registered players as we get closer to the season.

Is the league affiliated with the Guyer Wildcats?

Wildcats Youth Sports does attempt to plan activities with the Guyer Wildcats, however, the league has no official affiliation with the Guyer Wildcats. We hold practices at the high school field and run out of the tunnel with the varsity team at one of their games.  Players may also have an opportunity to work with the Guyer Varsity coaching staff and players.

How long is the season?

The season will begin mid to late July and end mid November, depending on your teams' success in the playoffs.  Specific dates will be determined by NTFL.

How many practices will there be?

Coaches will be restricted to no more than 3 practices (2 for flag) per week once school starts.  No practices are allowed on Sundays. Maximum practice length is 2 hrs.  No weekday practice may start prior to 5 pm.
