Wildcats Cheer Program
OUR PHILOSOPHY
Wildcats Cheer strives to develop the potential of each athlete through the introduction of sideline cheer and dance. Our program aims to foster and model a supportive and challenging learning environment to inspire our young individuals. We promote team and community spirit, as well as the value of self-discipline, confidence, persistence and teamwork.
Our Coaches offer continuous motivation and personalized feedback to ensure each athlete’s success. The Wildcats Cheer Program also instills tradition, commitment, and pride in the team and in each other. Cheerleaders build a solid foundation based on trust and loyalty – while having FUN. We seek to embrace the natural abilities of each participant and are dedicated to developing athletes by reinforcing safety and proper technique. We champion sportsmanship and believe that natural diversities and talents are our best assets. Our Leadership, Coaches, AND Parents work hard to be supportive in making this an exemplary cheer program and positive experience for all.
OUR MISSIONOur mission is to partner with our Parents and Cheerleaders to provide training and support throughout their Wildcat Cheer “career!” Our purpose is to develop athletes with understanding of safety standards and skill training that our Cheerleaders can take with them as they transition to middle school and Guyer High School.
Our program includes a preseason camp at Excite! Gym. Partnering with Excite! Gym helps our Wildcat Cheerleaders focus on technique and safety in traditional ways as they embark on learning our cheers and dances. It also is a great team-building exercise as each squad learns how to work together – and sets the stage for the first Wildcat cheer practice.
Please read our FAQ page for more information.

WILDCAT CHEER PROGRAM FAQS
Where will games be played?
Game locations will vary depending on who is fielding teams in each respective grade. Home games are played at Guyer High School. Wildcats Youth Sports is part of the North Texas Football League (NTFL). This organization is composed of leagues from Southlake, Coppell, Grapevine, Colleyville, Trophy Club, Roanoke and Justin. These leagues predominantly play at their respective high school or middle school.
Is this a select program?
No, it is recreational and all that register will be placed on a cheer squad.
What are the Cheerleader eligibility requirements?
All requirements are subject to the organization that we partner with (NTFL). All children that live in the Guyer High School feeder pattern and meet the other guidelines are eligible. Wildcats Youth Sports is a “grade pure” association – meaning having a team for each age group/grade. We have squads for K-6th grade.
How are cheer squads determined?
Cheerleaders will be placed on a grade level squad – unless there is a special circumstance that has Director approval. Special requests include: coaches child, football coach child, sibling player/cheerleader – again, all of these are subject to Director approval. While we strive to approve all requests, please understand that a Kinder cheerleader may not be at the same level as a 6th grade cheerleader and typically would not be a good fit for either party.
Where will practices be?
Practices may be held at the practice field at Guyer High School, Adkins Elementary, Blanton Elementary, EP Rayzor Elementary, Lantana North Pool Pavilion or Lantana Community Church.
How long is the season?
The season will begin the first week of August and end in November, depending on your teams success in the playoffs. Specific dates will be determined by the NTFL.
How many practices will there be?
Coaches will be restricted to no more than 3 practices per week once school starts. No practices are allowed on Sundays. Maximum practice length is 2 hrs. No weekday practice may start prior to 5 pm. Typically there is one practice and one game a week for cheerleaders.
